MADEIRA EMBROIDERY APPLIED ART SHIRT

DESCRIPTION

Short sleeve shirt featuring embroidery and applied art typical from Madeira Island, round collar and straight hem. Front button fastening. Embroidered “Béhen” detail on the front in green.

Primarily featured in the iconic "traje à Vianesa" folk costumes, Viana embroidery was originally crafted in linen and embroidered with threads of the same material, the motifs always reflected a rustic inspiration and a deeply romantic character. With the introduction of cotton thread, a richer color palette became possible, and it was with the widespread use of cotton thread that leaves, flowers, and hearts began to embrace a tricolor palette of white, blue, and red.

The designs, charming in their simplicity, contrast with the richness of the stitches employed.
